本学の提携校であるシンガポール工科大学（SIT：Singapore Institute of Technology）より留学生が来学し、アメリカ・イギリス・日本の医療制度や、医療専門職としての働き方などについて学びました。SITは、シンガポールにおいて作業療法をはじめとする医療専門職教育に力を入れている大学で、本学とは継続的な国際交流を行っています。
作業療法学科からは、田島明子教授が「日本の作業療法の発展史」をテーマに講義を行いました。日本において作業療法がどのように発展してきたのかをたどりながら、国によって異なる医療・社会制度や作業療法を取り巻く課題、そして各国に共通する課題について考える機会となりました。留学生の皆さんは熱心に耳を傾け、講義後には意見交換も行われるなど、活発な学びの場となりました。こうした留学生との交流や国際的な講義は、本学の学生にとっても、世界に目を向け、グローバルな視点から医療や作業療法を捉え直す貴重な機会となっています。
International students from our partner institution, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), visited our university and took part in a learning program focusing on healthcare systems in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, as well as the roles and working practices of healthcare professionals in each country.SIT places a strong emphasis on the education of healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, and has maintained an ongoing international partnership with our university.
From the Department of Occupational Therapy, Professor Akiko Tajima delivered a lecture on “The Historical Development of Occupational Therapy in Japan.” The session traced the development of occupational therapy in Japan and provided students with an opportunity to consider both the differences and commonalities in the challenges faced by occupational therapy across countries, particularly in relation to healthcare and social systems.The visiting students listened attentively and actively exchanged ideas after the lecture, creating a lively and engaging learning environment.Opportunities for international exchange and internationally focused lectures such as this also provide valuable stimulation for our own students, encouraging them to reconsider healthcare and occupational therapy from a broader, global perspective.
